To good to be left hiding on the ‘About’ page so I’m throwing this comment of Gordon’s up front. As Gordon says we’ve spent some time going through the 100+ tapes we have between us and found a goldmine of un-recorded, un-finished, un-plugged songs, many that I had forgotten, and that’s bad, because I wrote many of the ghosts we found on our most recent run.
So this is what Gordon had to say…
“You know, this started off as a fleeting notion to somehow mark the phenomenon of our time writing and playing music together under a number of names: the Arc, Hardwood Falls, A Book for Boys, then under various combinations of two of us, and then individually with others.
It has always surprised me how often people will approach me to ask after the band, after all this time. We thought it might be nice to direct people to a website when they asked after us.
Well that fleeting notion has far outstripped my expectations! It’s worth noting that none of us would’ve believed how much recorded material we actually have, ranging from rough cuts & home demos to polished studio quality. I expected to find maybe 4 or 5 songs but we have spent hours and hours so far going through analogue tapes and we’ve barely scratched the surface!
Little by little our technical wizards will clean these up and post them on the site for you to enjoy as we have.
Meanwhile, we’d love to hear from any of you out there who have photos, newspaper cuttings, old posters, videos or recordings from the 1980s that might help to build this site.
And yes, Slim, Gary and I are inspired by all this activity! Stay tuned….Gordon”
So here’s one we found. I wrote it in the late ’70’s and Gordon added a verse or two after he first heard it and it was eventually recorded some years later.
Can’t you get enough.
Arranged by Gordon (and what a gem of an arrangement)
