Hopelessly Blind

Clean up time continues.

Found a nice one today from Gordon. It’s a rehearsal take I believe.

Ouch!

“Son don’t be home to late, try to get back by eight. Son don’t wait ’till the break of day, ’cause you know how time fades away………@ Neil Young “Time Fades Away”

Time to ramp up the volume again, clean up some tracks and get back to posting.

” Where have all the soldiers gone….?”

In the slow lane

The last post went up some time in the middle of October 2011. What can I say, somewhere between hell and high water the days just disappeared amid chaotic work commitments and bedding down new projects and winding up loose ends lying around. Time to clean up more tracks and continue the hunt for the elusive compilation tape of many of our early covers, which included Helplessly Hoping, Hasten Down the Wind, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Your Move, Tennessee Waltz, just to name some.

How time slips away.

Waterfront

A true classic from Gordon. This is for the Splinter’s page.

Recorded after the breakup of Hardwood Falls, this track features some of Bathurst’s finest musicians; Chris McCusker on bass and Dave Fitzgerald on electric, to name a few. I’ll leave it up to Gordon to add the rest of the story. This has to be one of my early post Hardwood Falls favorites.

Halloween Dance

From the same series of recordings under the Arc at Earth Media Studios featuring the signature sound of guitars in different tunings. This one is again from Gordon.

Bears

Written somewhere between ’79 and ’81. This was one of my first songs written for the ARC. Recorded at Earth Media Studios on 3/4″ tape in the good old days one take recordings with no pitch adjustment. Great harmonies from Gordon and Craig made this song what it is.

Waterbird

A few weeks ago we went through a number of tapes and pulled some old classics into the system. This is one of Gordon’s songs captured live at either the Commercial or the Park Hotel.

Talk in the trees

Another rehersal recording from lower Rankin St. Somewhere in ’84

A great song that rolled out with a lot of energy whenever we played it. Good times……good times.

Possibly one of the last songs we worked on before the band’s break up. Not sure of the chronology there, but someone’s bound to know.

This is not the way

Here’s one for the Splinters page. This is myself, Gordon, Mike Slattery and Kim Stubbs wandering through ‘This is not the way’.

Recorded at Ryde on the same day as ‘Stronger than the sun’.
